AND SO ANOTHER DAY DRAWS TO A CLOSE.....Franklin's Tower

......and what a delightful day its been, full of rants & raves, & of course some delectible music. So as i fold my tent & steal off into the night I leave you with this absolutely stunning version of The Grateful Dead's "Franklin's Tower". Henry Rollins' faithful yet sacreligious treatment of this track borders on genius. At once raucus & funky, thick yet nuanced, Rollins homage strikes just the right note...balancing on a hair between tribute & satire. The easy lope of the Dead has been updated, jittery, frenetic & funky....the hippie ambience supplanted by the aural equivilent of 21st century energized angst. In a lot of ways this is superior to.........

    Since I'm unfamiliar with the original (gee, wonder why?), I can't speak to the comparison.

    I'm listening - wait, isn't Rollins a vocalist (so to speak)? What does he have to do with this instrumental - the whispering?

    I kinda like it - so it must be better than the original...
