So as i fold my tent & steal off into the night I leave you with this absolutely stunning version of The Grateful Dead's "Franklin's Tower". Henry Rollins' faithful yet sacreligious treatment of this track borders on genius. At once raucus & funky, thick yet nuanced, Rollins homage strikes just the right note...balancing on a hair between tribute & satire. The easy lope of the Dead has been updated, jittery, frenetic & funky....the hippie ambience supplanted by the aural equivilent of 21st century energized angst.
