WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

THIS IS SO SWEET.

**Whispering Pines** is a lost gem from **The Band**. A beautiful, pastoral song with an underlying sadness that **Dar Williams** captures perfectly. This to me is a perfect example of a reinterpretation shedding new light on a great song. That's what the best covers do.

  1. ngtivspace says Good. christ. What a great cover. I love The Band, love Dar, and would never have thought to put them together. She has such a perfectly lonely voice. Thanks for this.

  3. Bartleby says Quote: "a reinterpretation shedding new light on a great song" That's also my humble opinion regarding covers - In fact the word doesn't do justice to the artist's vision. I'd much rather such gems as this a re-creation. As -space said, her voice is the sound of dreams. With all my gratitude for this ravishment.

  5. dermahrk says I loved it but have never heard the original. Jules Shear co-wrote several of the songs on Dar's latest, BTW.
