....The Turtles were too talented for their own good. Primarily thought of as a singles band, and they had some great ones, their albums were often as good throughout. They were Easily capable of a wide variety of sounds & styles & many say this may have been part of the problem.
Someone like Inrumford or dermahrk oughtta do a long piece on the Turtles, they derserve it.
But this song didn't deserve what the Turtles did to it. A rare misstep.

I own one Turtles best of collection. Someone more knowledgable than I will need to MOGify 'em.
Always liked these guys, and I don't find this annoying at all (but then, y'all know how easily I am entertained). At the genesis, I had vol 1 & 2 of their greatest hits on 8-track, and like ya said, lots of great cuts.
Speaking of Flo and Eddie, I saw them open for Alice Cooper's Billion $$ Babies show. Woo-hah!!

I had not thought of the Turtles in years,
They do a good job with "It Was a Very Good Year," keeping the beat going without the pauses that other acts have inflicted on the song.
