THE iPOD AT WORK. Mysteries & Melodies.

Posted about 4 years ago
Because of the nature of my work, I can play music all day and there is no one with the authority to make me turn it off, or even turn it down. There is a small group of folks who hear the music all the time, and they're convinced I'm nuts. Like most outside of the MOG, music to them is aural wallpaper. They are happiest when they're deep in the heart of classic rock/rap/pop, the more familiar the better. So when i set the ipod in it's dock and hit shuffle they become convinced I go out of my way to find the weirdest music possible. Now you guys know that by MOG standards my tastes ARE pretty mainstream, but by the rest of the world and the "average" music listener, my tastes are all over the map. This amuses me no end. Imagine, thinking Karen Ann is weird!Anyway, about two weeks ago on a relatively slow day, I swear on my albums that the ipod played, in order:>Jimi's "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band">Joe Cocker's "With A Little Help From My Friends">Elton John's "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds"This completely blew my mind. WTF are the odds? 6945 songs to choose from. On an unrelated note, I was given a cd last year called A FAB FOUR CHRISTMAS.The graphics were almost identicle to The Beatle no. 1's cd. The giver thought I'd like this 'cause I was a huge Beatle fan.It sucks.

  4. Spike says If they had kept the Christmas lyrics but been faithful to the Beatles' melodies, it would have worked. "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" has the same structure as "Help." I don't have the energy to figure out if your second example would fit so easily. You're lucky that the philistines around you are so tolerant of your excellent musical tastes.

  7. FastRMacR says Your iPod _KNOWS_ man! Now that's some cool coincidence indeed. Mine likes to jump from Vera Lynn to Rage Against The Machine! Garsh ... I would have loved to hear the Jimi cover ... instead.
