SOUNDS OF FUTURE PAST AND PRESENT PERFECT

STONES ROLLING THROUGH A BIG COUNTRY

Posted about 1 year ago
Big Country exploded on the scene with their brand of heartfelt anthemic rock n roll and 'guitars as bagpipes' sound.Stuart Adamson's lyrics were enigmatic and dark, while the music swirled around like huricanes in Scotland. Their Album "the Crossing" is highly recomended. These ears do not hear a bad track. But they are so much more than that. After they fell out of the spotlight they continued to evolve and find new pathways within their sound. They were also excellent interpreters of the music of others. Here they render the Rolling Stones "Ruby Tuesday"as.....well, you decide.

  2. dermahrk says They do an admirable job, but don't have much to work with. This has always been one of my least favorite Stones songs. I know you like Big Country, so I suggest you abandon the covers thing and post some original tracks from their later career.

  3. brendanhalpin says I was a fan of the early stuff--I felt like they lost it sometime after the third album. Not crazy about the faithful cover in general, though this one does improve on the original by dint of its lack of flute. (Just not a rock and roll instrument.)
