The world needs more country gentlemen.
Yes that's true..........We could use more gentlemen of every stripe.
Agreed..."class" and "country music" have become mutually exclusive terms in the last 30 years or so. Bring back the bolo ties and the stately strumming.
Geez, this is beautiful. Never knew you had that much of a jones for old-time country. Usually when a musician dies there are multiple MOG notices. But since this is not rock, I suspect yours will be the only one.
It's hard to imagine his clear-toned tenor singing the full long notes of "Please Help Me, I'm Falling" not being a hit. Here are two songs, “Who You Think You’re Foolin’” and “I Could Call You Darling” from his second album, Encores (1961), on the King label. The LP's cover art has a certain primitive beauty.
Enjoyed both cuts, Spike. Too bad the man had to die to make me aware of his career.
thanks blood, your ill blog makes ME jealous!
