A GREAT LITTLE STORY SONG FOR A SATURDAY MORNING ON MOG
-
Artist:
-
Album:The Best Of Jim Stafford
-
Track:
....Most folks know Jim Stafford for "Spiders & Snakes", if they know him at all. And of course "The wildwood Weed", a hit on college stations everywhere. This song, from the same album, was always my favorite. Its a great little story song, well played, exquisitely produced, & its a lot of fun.
Listen with headphones if you can.

think his other solo was "Truckstop" -which i have on 8-Track )-
once mentioned i had Ry Cooder's "Paradise and Lunch" on8 to a
friend's nephew who'd mentioned him - 15 years ago - and he'd
never heard of 8-Tracks ! Only copy of "Lost Kinks" i've ever seen
is my 8-Track ....yeah, still have 'em !
best
Thanks Mike, ooooops, I mean rockroll43
@termite............yeah, I wander all over the place.
Always thought he was under rated.
me too
He reminds me a little of Tony Joe White. Reading about this Stafford guy just now, I realize that maybe around '80, it must have been him I saw open for Bob Newhart at a Reno casino, because he sang "Cow Patti." He also played a B.B. King-style banjo solo. A great entertainer.
"Cow Patti"....oh yeah, that's Jim.
Now you've gone and hit my soft spot. I loved this guy and had totally forgotten about him. And yes, headphones really capture all the intracies of the accompaniement.
Cheers
Oh, dear God. How can you NOT love Jim Stafford. Thanks, DMD. That made my morning.
