Wow, these guys can't boogie...or sing.
I'm of the opinion that these guys got famous because of their association with a certai infamous biker gang. Plus, when you're on LSD, anything can sound great.
......You guys are a couple of Infidels, I can tell!
wow DM2, I'm sure you made this post eagerly awaiting a little reciprocal "dead" love and these guys just shot you down.
Flying high in April, shot down in May.
Infidels indeed!
Some people have always had a hard time with the GD .....that they could party and make some great records. When Jerry Garcia & Co were on very few could touch them. Always look forward to a tune from them, Thanks
I've been innoculated. I will go listen to "Lady with a Fan" now.
you guys crack me up, I guess you had to be there, did love the electric cool aid acid test though
Oh, yeah...I hate bands that can "party" and make "great records". I prefer teetotaling bands that make shitty records. Don't we all?
say what?
see Cpetersonart3 above. Geez, Jeff, pay attention!
..Oh, I get it now. So I have a question for you. Do you like any good music beyond sugar coated pop?
Plenty, as you know. Emphasis on good. The Dead don't qualify.
Seriously, Jeff - this is the worst version of this song I've ever heard. It should have a rollicking boogie woogie piano and a macho vocal. This lacks both - it just kind of limps along.
An excellent point, Mark....but on the other hand....its been done to death that way. I made no claims as to the relative nature of this cover......but your blanket dismissal triggers a defensive mode in me. I'm no Deadhead...but they've got at least a half dozen albums (cds) that are must-haves.....easily accessible, chock full of great songs, thoroughly fine works. 6 albums is an accomplishment in rocknroll.
Well, at least two - American Beauty and Workingman's Dead. I owned Beauty at some point. I think it's the whole Deadhead culture and a former obnoxious roommate who proved to me with his live tapes that, on acid, the Dead sound awful.
Anyway, I would love to hear Jerry Lee Lewis tackle the song. He could do it justice for sure.
