Well Now...Inspired by wizillusions' Way Back Machine..How 'bout The Way Way Back Machine?
-
Artist:

......A recording from 1940 from the (near) great Jimmy Yancey. I like a good piano blues & frankly this is basic enough I can play along (almost) & feel good about myelf. Anyway, I like wizillusions Way Back Machine theme, there are so many really fine songs out there that deserve mention now & again. Even (especially?) if these songs were so ubiquitous in their day as to become invisible non-entities. Has anyone listened to Jim Stafford's Spiders & Snakes lately? God, I grew so sick of that song in it's day...instant channel surf! But on listening to it the other day?....faultless, fun, funky rocknroll. Its not an earth shattering innovation of any kind.........neither is She Loves You, its just good fun rocknroll. Which leads to the question....why Jimmy Yancey?.....My Way Back Machine has a busted franastan & its gonna cost 7000 yen ($2.25) to replace it. Plus my computer is f^@king avec moi, its gotten very selective as to what it will allow me to rip.

go to apple and down load ITunes - a freebie - and use that to rip your tunes
I have itunes........its the damnedest thing you've ever seen (the problem, I say the problem is what I'm talkin' about here). Some discs WILL NOT rip, in any format.
fucked up disc drive?
OK, I'm gonna desribe the problem....you're gonna tell me I'm crazy....I'm gonna get out the corncob pipe....and cuss.
.....If there is a disc in the slot when I hit "rip" not only will it not rip....it never will. I'll be ripping a stack of cds & I'll sneak one of the "afflicted" discs in and.........nothing.........not a F&^%$#@$%&(&^%^ing thing. Its enough to drive me to distraction...or datstraction..I have my choice.
YOU"RE CRAZY!!!
There are discs that were produced with a form of copy protection on them that would evince just such a symptom. Could be you are the unfortunate deadman who ended up with them
Oh...if only that were the case. No....I've ripped songs from cds....and then went back to rip others and.....if I make the mistake again.....bupkis!
When you insert a cd, what music player launches?
and does one of the recalcitrant cd's show up in said player?
when it asks you do you want to rip this cd to your library? do you acquiesce?
or does it not present this query when inserting a "bad" disc.
I've had problems ripping some older/rare CD's, I-Tunes, Windows just wont read them even if I add the album info myself.
great stuff
A fellow Jimmy Yancey fan! Despite what they all say, you're alright, I just gotta love ya, man, you're the best A drink to Yancey!
