If You're Runnin' The Country, And You Ain't Runnin' It Funky........Old School with WAR

Posted about 3 years ago

In spired, as it were, by a pair of posts, I've been thinking alot about our New President. He faces some incredibly difficult challenges abroad & at home. He's gonna piss off a lot of people on both sides of every aisle. The extreme left is already yowling. The extreme right is gnashing it's teeth. Those of us in the center are holding our breath.....waiting...hoping.....things will get better.

War needs no introduction from the likes of me. I'm surprised The MOG allowed this twenty plus minute opus. Lee Oskar plays a fine sweet harp here, and the band has a fine syncopated old school funk groove going through-out. War Live belongs in any funk collection (& most RocknRoll collections too.)

Lee Oskar was a giant. Wonder what he's doing lately. I suppose I could Google away, but I'll just throw my curiosity out into the MOGiverse and see what happens.

War is timeless -- my fave's as a kid were: Why Can't We Be Friends ... and Cisco Kid.     :)

This song always reminds me of smoking that illegal stuff rather than getting down to buisness. It seems that anytime I saw WAR there was this cloud around the whole concert.

War is good..the music band I mean. One of my very first forays into funk after I finished my Bootsy comics. Nice one.

I'm groovin'.  Yeah, Lee Oscar is tasty.  He's from Copenhagen!  He,  Howard Scott, BB Dickerson and Harold Brown have a band called The Lowrider Band.  Of course you knew he has his own brand of harmonicas made by Tombo of Japan.  I never knew the connection.  Whoop yo ass!

Oh, back to the comment.  Along with Jummy Thudpucker, he is now a leading ringtone artist.

    Talkin' 'bout gittin' down!
