  1. ivylander says Better or worse, it's hard to say. But I'm impressed by the way Wyclef makes this song his. If you'd never heard the original and somebody told you Wyclef wrote it, you'd believe it instantly.

  3. Spike says Haven't heard the original, and haven't heard of Wyclef Jean, but this sounds very good. The spare arrangement is great, and he sings it beautifully.

  4. deadmandeadman says Spike, I'd heard that there was someone who hadn't heard Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here", but I thought it was an urban legend like alligators in th sewer or the Clinton's ethics. I never realized such a person actually existed, and I'm shocked to hear its you.

  5. Grandpa2one says In my opinion, it doesn't come close to the original version. A cover is a cover is a cover. There aren't many out there who can produce the same effects as the original artist. Going out with friends on a Saturday night and listening to a local band play all the great classic rock songs is fine to pass time and have a great evening out but nothing beats the original CD.

  7. Arvid says I don't know if it beats the original (pretty hard), but I do think it's actually pretty nice. When you think how bad covers can actually go, I guess this is not that bad at all :-) Spike: You should check out Pink Floyd. They are not the worst band in the world, and kind of something you should at least give a try, them having shaped rock music as we know it and all ;-) - I would start with Dark Side Of The Moon.

  8. HelenMarie says That was interesting. I'm really not sure how I feel about it though.

  9. Spike says Arvid, though I had never heard of "Wish You Were Here," I have enjoyed much of the few records of theirs I've crossed paths with, and treasure my 45 of "Us and Them." It's good to know from you as well that their body of work is worth checking out.

  10. dermahrk says Not a big Floyd fan, once Syd left. So it's easy for me to say I also prefer this. OK, now we know where Spike acquired his eclectic tastes. It was that box his parents raised him in....

  11. marknavl says A good variation...but better than the original?....Nah. I've just heard the original so much, it's good to hear a newer approach.
