WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Common's not new but latest Album "Be"

Posted over 3 years ago
I've been a Common fan for quite some time. I've seen him live a few times in Austin, he's amazing on the mic live. Probably one of the most solid hip-hop / freestyle artists around today. The problem is, I absolutely hated his last album "Electric Circus". I'm sure that this isn't fair and we should allow artists to branch out and experiment with new mediums but damn. I could barely make it through a single playthrough. There was only one track on that album (New Wave) that I found listenable. Enough about the past. His latest Album "Be" is simply amazing. It's back to the roots of Common. Intelligent lyrics, funky melodic beats, an all around great offering. My favorite track is "Food" which was recorded live with Kanye West on the Dave Chappelle show. It's hard to believe that this is a live cut. Anyway, check it out here:http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=63574173&s=143441

  5. mickimicki says I love the "One Day It'll All Make Sense" album from '97 which is his third. I don't know everything from the first two LPs but what I know is really good, too. He was Common Sense, then, I think he dropped the Sense with "One Day It'll All Make Sense". Great Rapper.
