I'm not too sure what genre Alexisonfire are classed as now. Probably Post-Hardcore, which is always a pretty weak tag. Some might say Screamo, which is another label I don't quite understand. I'm sure if one of their videos even pops up on MTV it'll get that greatest of "what does it even fucking mean?" lavels- Emo.But are Alexisonfire any of that? I don't really care. All I know is that with their third album, they've managed to perfect capture that type of intensity that most of the bands they get clumped with in what-ever-genre would dream of.The album starts off without any intro or silence. It's right in there with the heavy drumbeats and guitars, as well as the dueling of vocals between Screaming George Pettit and Dirty Choir Boy Dallas Green (although I don't think I heard any of Wade MacNeil's snare, which I liked on thier previous albums). There's even some guest vocals on You Burn First, from Gared O'Donnell of Planes Mistaken For Stars, which although different from the other vocals, still matches up and feels true to the band/album style.Alexisonfire get better and better each album. From their first album with it's overly long songs with lots of screaming to their second which only just missed a balance between screaming bloody hell down a microphone and not, this band learn and evolve. Crisis isn't a perfect album by any means, but it is the work of band that's improving with every release, and I personally can't wait for what they bring next.EDIT- Mog as uploaded the album as Atreyu. WTF?
