If you like Irish music, you might have some Altan in your collection. My particular favourite album is Blue Idol. There is a lovely, traditional song from County Mayo, where the lyrics have been translated to English as well. It's a beautiful love song, with a heartbreaking melody. Dolly Parton had asked Altan to play on her Little Sparrow album, and in return she guested on this song "The Pretty Young Girl". We should all realise what a great singer, and talented songwriter Dolly is. But when I hear her voice on simple songs like this, with paired down production, I just get blown away by her every time. The combination of her with Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh is something special. Track this song down and have a listen.
