dexateens

I spent the weekend in athens georgia and got to see two of my favorite bands. Dexateens and Magnolia Electric Company. Dexateens are from Tuscaloosa Alabama. Great band and great show at the 40 watt club. If you haven't heard these guys you should check them out. Talked to them after the show and was pleased to hear that they are going to europe to play some shows. They've been compared to drive by truckers, but i think this is largely because patterson hood produced two of their CDs but really have a more in common with the band they were supporting: Magnolia Electric Co.Also great show from Magnolia Electric Company. For those of you who have been following Jason Molina since his Songs:Ohia days I'm happy to report Jason's voice and playing is as good as it's ever been.

  6. wassonii says Thanks for the heads up on Dexateens. Some friends from UA had said to look out for them. Of course, now they are going to EU, I'll have to wait a few months for another live round. Looking for a recording, tho. Oh yes, welcome to MOG

  9. jenny says Dexateens had this fantastic song on an Estrus comp a couple of years ago -- "Take Me Out to the Freeway," I think it was, rootsy, kind of classic rock, but incredibly full of longing. Is there more than one album out? Do you like one better than the rest? By the way, welcome...I've been hearing "Forever" on shuffle a whole bunch lately, what a great song. yrs, Jenny
