audioslave break-up

Posted almost 3 years ago
does one really wish "the best" afer "irresolvable personality conflicts and musical diferences"? as he states? doubt it!my bet? cornell's new lifestyle as owner of fancy restaurant in paris has turned him into a dandy. he doesn't want to dirty his clothes with all that messy rock and roll.

  3. Spike says Whew! At first I thought "audioslave break-up" meant that one of MOG's amazing mechanisms was having technical meltdown.

  4. Anonymous says I was hoping they wouldn't split. I don't buy it, David -- Chris has been rocking for decades. His first solo album was amazing and I can't wait for the new one.

  5. etothemcg says aww, i actually liked chris's voice. here's one of the songs i think he sings best. it's a random video, but i don't have an mp3 of the song. goodbye audioslave.

  6. Misstee says I knew that was coming when the reunion of Rage Against The Machine was announced. Hmmmm do we think a Soundgarden get together is far behind?

  7. bansheeboy says that sucks, chris cornell is one of the better vocalists i can think of latley...i would love to see soundgarden get back together. i'd realy love to see a temple of the dog reunion??? like that will happen but hey, cant blame a guy for dreamin...

  8. TynansAnger says This is mutually beneficial, Rage Against the Machine is reforming, and Chris Cornell can actually try to regain some legitimacy. How can someone make Superunknown and then such crap afterwards? Interesting factoid about Cornell, in the fallout of his divorce, his ex-wife took his Grammys. Ouch.

  9. ROCKNROLLPIMP1 says CORNELL HAS ONE OF THE BEST VOICES IN ROCK I LIKED AUDIO SLAVE BUT NOT AS MUCH AS RATM OR GARDEN HE DON'T NEED THOSE CAT AND BULLSHIT!! lol :p

  10. mktackabery says I liked Audioslave too; I thought it was an interesting experiment, but I got the feeling Cornell was losing interest too. He does have other things going on, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that; he's been through the wars. If he wants to look at the lavender in Provence or wherever and drink wine, more power to him I say. But I do hope he will pop in and sing us a song once in a while. I liked Rage too, but I was never nutty about them. I think they came around when I was getting a bit tired of angry young things . . .

  11. wgraham76 says I read a follow up interview he did with MTV.com, and he shot down the Soundgarden rumour. Frankly, I'm glad. He doesn't sing the same way as he did back then, and Matt Cameron is kicking ass in Pearl Jam right now, anyway. Plus, I like the simple pleasures of Kim Thayil just popping up on an album now and then. Cornell explained that he just flat out prefers working alone now. He said when you're 19, it's much easier to be in a band, but now that he's older, he wants to be a little selfish and do his own thing. Can't blame him when you think about it that way. Best of luck to him, and bring on the Rage.

  12. lemontwist says You know, I'm hoping this is good news. I'm hoping Cornell will start making good music this second time around being solo. Then again, I was expecting Audioslave to rock, and I was disappointed then, I was expecting his first solo album to rock, and I was disappointed then, too. Hopefully this time will be different.

  13. the one says thank god. that shite just didn't really work. now rage can start raging again and perhaps soundgarden will grow again?

  15. River Lethe says I can't say I'd really be sad to see Audioslave go. They were good live, but after the novelty wore off, the music is pretty mediocre. I couldn't care less about RATM. Any of them. Soundgarden would be cool, but probably incapable of recapturing what made them great before. They were the best band to come out of the 90's, but with Cameron in PJ and Shepherd and Thayil mostly missing in action (minus the band Hater), I just don't see it. I haven't heard the Bond song he did, but I don't expect much. His first solo album though, is often overlooked, and has some great songs on it. Also, he was friends with Jeff Buckley, producing the post-humous album Sketches For My Sweetheart the Drunk, so you know there have to be some Jeff/Chris collab tracks out there somewhere.

  17. Rboy says Audioslave ran its course...time to move on. Let's hope Morello's comments about RATM at Coachella being a one-time deal aren't true. And with the progression we've seen in Cornell in terms of song writing and leaning towards a mellower tone, I'd be scared to see a Soundgarden reunion, even if it means just playing the old albums. Man can sing though.

  20. Scarlett Echo says Loved Soundgarden. My fave from the grunge era and it was mostly due to Chris Cornell's voice. He's got the perfect rock voice, imo. I liked early Audioslave. Didn't bother with the last album. Euphoria Morning is one of my favourite albums and I'm confident that Cornell will succeed musically when he is feeling free to go in whatever direction he's moved to go in. I'm 100% supportive of his solo effort and I'm anxious as hell for May to come. Great news day for me. :)

  21. kat3260 says Audioslave is for me a good example of a band that does not equal the sum of its parts. I tried really hard to like that first album, but I barely enjoy it now. And that song "it doesn't remind me of anything" or whatever, just, yuck. I was done after I heard that.
