WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

best part of being in rome today....

Posted over 3 years ago
really enjoyed sister morphine on my ipod today as i walked through the innards of the coliseum. made for each other!yesterday's walk through pantheon with j dilla was borderline morally shameful but i got off on the contrast. what can i say? unfortunately, most of my time has been trapped in my dark, dingy room looking at computer screen with window facing brick wall and going to meetings. but tonight is friday so i might not be reading rockandrollpimp's tipsy friday night grammar. ; )

  6. jenny says Ooooh, Rome, my favorite city in the whole world....you have to go to Testaccio for dinner, it's just south of the Forum and there are five or six really wonderful restaurants, not touristy at all. I can't think of names but if you go to the square where they have the vegetable market there are a bunch of them right there. Let's see, also the best cheese shop in the city is there, Formaggia Mania, I think...it's got one of those tavola calda things attached, like a cafeteria except the food's the best you ever had in your life. When I went to the Pantheon last time, there was a free concert, a Bach cantata...amazing the way that place channels the sound...but Roots sounds fun, too.

  8. Spike says Where'd you get that picture of Keith? A Phillip Morris ad? Goes great with the Colisseum. I love listening to music oddly juxtaposed with my field of vision. While driving through bucolic nature, I love listening to the soundtrack I copied off a rented video of "Top Fights of Kung Fu." I get to hear (a) each fighter grunt as he starts to move an arm or a leg, (b) the sound of it cutting through the air, (c) the sound of the surface of the other man being hit, and (d) the sound of the other man groaning in pain. These four different sounds come in a fast rhythmic sequence, repeated in endless variations. All the sounds are, of course, faked and dubbed, but they create an unusual form of music, so I can pretend I'm avant-garde as I link them to the greenery I'm driving through. Heard any good Italian music? My memory of Italian hip-hop is that it was pathetic.

  11. lemontwist says Hahahahahaha, I love that picture! Have fun in Rome, I'm so jealous, I've never been to Europe... And if Italian gelato is better than American gelato (and I'd bet it is), you really ought to eat as much as you can while you're still there. :)

  13. SWozniak says 1. The best gelatto is just off the Campo de Fiori (I think that's how you spell it), which has a cool nightlife. 2. I always liked the silence of the Colliseum. iPod? fo' shame! Did one of the Roman centurion guys try to bilk you for a photo? 3. I think that's Keith Richards in costume for his appearance in Pirates 3. ;)
