A few years ago there was a Mog post that linked to a display of every known brand of audio cassette, probably more than a hundred, all in a long scrollable grid. Like this, it was visually exciting to see many almost identical objects arranged in an order determined by their minor differences.
Had today's headphones been available in the early eighties, would ghetto blasters have still become popular?
The photographer's name is Lyle Owerko, a fellow New Yorker, and his work is excellent in general. I like the boom box photos very much -- they make me smile every time, and miss my old one -- but I wonder why they're all more or less the same size and dimensions? There was a lot of variety back in the day.
Those are pretty cool. But I would like to see some versions that look a little different or offer alternatives in functionality.
Take this boom box for instance sported by Mr. Supreme from Seattle. I have seen it with my own two eyes and played it to make sure it was the real deal... I assure you it is.
