Lou Reed asks magazine reporter, "are you a f***king asshole?"

Classic..
Lou Reed is interviewed by New York Magazine about his new Sirius Radio show. Lou is on all roll until the following unfolds...
Sirius's impending merger with XM is anticipated to boost earnings. Do you own any stock in the company?
What are you, a fucking asshole? I'm here telling you the truth about music and you want to know if I have stock in the fucking radio? You fucking piece of shit. What did I do to deserve that?

hahah
kudos to him
What kind of audience do you envision when you're doing a show? The commuter from Staten Island?
You're joking, right?
Look, they have thousands of people who do things like that. We're just there playing music that we think is really great. I mean, I was just listening to some theremin music that Moog puts out on a DVD sampler and I've got to play this, it's so astonishingly beautiful.(excerpted from interview)
...And the theramin rears it's ugly head again. He's got something in common with Yanni!
come now. theramin and yanni are not the same!
Sorry, David.
does that count as "yes"?
I think so. :)
zoolander, i'm with you.
I live for stuff like this -- excellent. Another question for Lou -- So what's Laurie Anderson really like? I'll bet Petty and Dylan are getting paid in stock on the XM side too.
That's a big fat YES if I've ever seen one, indeed.
Wow, methinks he protests too much. I was thinking the same thing as Zoolander. That stock must be a super duper 'secret'!
On a side note - and speaking of Laurie Anderson (and I know someone was) - has anyone else heard that Datarock song dedicated to her?
More importantly - I wonder what Lou Reed thinks of it!
Heard worse, said worse
Love it. This is why we love Lou Reed. You go back to the first Velvets album and you got Lou speaking from his truth, no bullshit and whether he's talking about the dark side of shit or what he loves, it's the real deal.
Ask Lou Reed some shit like that and you figure that's what he'll dish you. Why should he have to tell some reporter his personal business.
It would be great to hear his show just to find out what variety of sounds Lou Reed plays. A friend of mine was driving a rental car that had satellite
radio and he listened to Bob Dylan's show. He said that it sounded to him as if Dylan played music that the staff had chosen, and as if his comments about the music were written by the staff. I'd have to hear the show to know whether my friend, who is normally a nattering nabob of negativism, is mistaken or not.
If you Google "Yanni theramin" (and it's actually spelled Theremin), the first result is David's MOG home page! Even stranger, it seems that Theremin is the key to soothing Yanni's rage. Check out this episode of "Behind the Music that Sucks": http://www.heavy.com/video/2454.
redtunictroll - you're killing me. funny stuff.
i'm not sure whether to be flattered by this or if i should jump out my window. ; )
Jeez, no coffee in the office today, Lou? Get a grip.
Spike
Yes, Dylan has a research staff, no he can’t possibly hand pick each song he plays on each show, but trust me, “Hooper drives the boat Chief”
Beyond the edification he brings to his listeners, one can easily hear that he is indeed enjoying himself and that joy, while not measured in gigahertz comes through loud and clear.
Same with Petty’s Buried Treasure
I'll bet indiepixie would never ask a dumbass question like that.....
He someone made this comment on there:
"this goes along with everything i've ever read or heard about lou reed. what a self-important, whiny, cranky asshole."
I guees it time to buy some stocks aye lol.
That's pretty much the way I read it, Ray. hehe
the better question would be: How many shares of stock did they give you, Lou?
and i think its a fair question. Nothing wrong with being a capitalist and a musician, right?
No, but admitting it is... apparently.
My, aren't we little Mr. Sunshine, Louie Louie?
But why should I complain? When he's talking to reporters he's not making that horrible music.
dermahrk- I'm with you on that one. LOL
Sirius/XM radio stock is in the tank, has been for some time and however great the product is, there is so much debt and loss incurred by the FCC's craven delay on the merger approval at the behest of the NAB (terrestial radio) lobby that anyone getting paid in stock can take it and $4 to the nearest open Starbuck, but not get any change back. Lou Reed is a great artist but not a warm fuzzy human being. Neither was Picasso by all reports...
