OMG

michael jackson - this video says it all for me

Posted 5 months ago

i can't tell you how much michael's music meant to me. i play michael jackson almost every day, when i get home from work. my daughers, sophie, chiara an i have a michael jackson dance party almost every night.

this video featuring jackson 5's ABC almost brought me to tears when i saw it on the big screen. i just loved how a hipster indie flick had to fess up and pay homage to michael's brilliance. to me, it screams how michael's music can't not be blissfully enjoyed, even by a bunch of jaded freaks.

    Yes - dancing is fun.

Not to be a nit picker (but I will be) - but technically that isn't really a "Michael Jackson" song but a Jackson 5 song.  Back when little Michael wasn't so, ah - well, you know.

Also - I would argue that a major portion of that scene up there is about appreciating that pretty girl (and her "attributes") dancing.

So, for that alone, thanks for posting.

What? I think the purpose of the clip hits home that everybody loves dancing to Michael. I do. My man does. When he found out yesterday he busted out a lip bites and a crotch grabs and sang out snippits from off the wall and even better stuff from before, spontaneously. And it wasn't just him. This sudden need to impersonate MJ seems like the common reaction to his death. I think that's the point. Not tits. So thanks for posting something we can relate to. I'm going to miss Michael as a performer and his ability to make everyone want to dance.

Well then - guess I've been "told".  I can't wait for Justin Timberlake to do his tribute.  Oh, wait - that's been his entire act for the last 5 years!  loltz

i feel ya, DH! MJ is up there with The Beatles for me "in a league of their own." How could a dude be that talented from such a very young age? So sad the way his life and his mind went kookoo, his life itself was tragic. But his contribution to music and his early presence is so huge that it trumps all the twisted aspects of his later years.

As I finished making this Music Video for my song about childhood freedom I heard of Michael Jackson's death and a sadness came over me. Michael Jackson had the soul of a child always and never struck me as being really a happy person in adulthood. Michael Jackson once said he was robbed of his childhood. I suppose that's why he strived to re-capture childhood later in adult life. As I thought about it I realized that this song about childhood freedom and the loss of it was appropriate for Michael. R.I.P. Michael Jackson. The world will surely miss you. PS: The Director of The Bridge School heard this song and e-mailed me that she was moved and forwareded this song to Pegi Young. I am honored.

As a hard rocker back in the early Jacksons and MJ years I took the piss but as a collector I bought his bad album because of its popularity. When I played it I was blown away and became a fan of his music, that lead to watching his vids and dancing. The man was an athlete! I ended up driving my wife, four kids and my Mum 300 miles to see him in concert in the mid 90's. My mum was a dance teacher, it was fantastic!

man that reminds me i still needs to watch Clerks 2

His music and style was infectious....it's too bad things spiraled outta control with the media and it made Michael into such a kook in many people's eyes

not to say he didn't help it along some, but i fear his dessemination of the hyperbolic chamber and elephant man stories screwed him in the long run....the tabloid press realized the $ to be had and never looked bad

i always pitied him in later years...how friggin hard must it have been to be Michael Jackson?

overall i think history will show that his music and charisma will shine over everything else

That group dance number from 'Clerks 2' is my fave scene from that movie! I've replayed that numerous times. And I have to say that I agree w/both Misstackett & Dave Cromwell, the scenes are about both your points, not one or the other. How can you deny the sex appeal of Rosario Dawson as she dances? Or even the sex appeal of the group dancers? Of course the clip is about how most everyone loves The Jackson 5(& inadvertantly, MJ). Can't we all just get along? hehe

Yeah. Seriously. The first tribute to Jackson that I can stomach: Rosario Dawson bouncing around on a New Jersey rooftop to one of his first recordings as a child star. And frankly, it's all about Rosario. The rest, including the hysteria on Hollywood Blvd. for the past couple nights (rode past it tonight - jeez louise) and the endless baloney on TV? Nope. Nossir. Nah.

Michael Jackson touched so many lives. His transcendant talent built bridges & tore down walls.  & yes his music makes even creaky ole skeletons dance...but for decency's sake, I won't.

David...that you & your daughters love to dance so much together...THAT'S quality time, dude, treasure those moments.
