It's true. My record store (it's not mine i just frequently and uncontrollably find myself in it all the time) files Bill Frisell under a section called "guitar gods". And deservedly so. I haven't been able to stop listening to him lately, particularly the East/West live record he put a few years ago. It's so inventive and clever and funny and he can play the guitar so incredibly well yet half the time simply chooses to understate things. Thats called class.
