Scandinavian music post No.2, for today. While at Spot we went to see an Instrumental Indie-Surf band called El Rey, who were wholly entertaining, and even though they're plying their one trick, it somehow carries through a whole gig and I'm hoping a whole album. However, I'm not posting about El Rey. Their bass player (Rasmus) who I was chatting to informs me he is in another band called The Elephants, who I have a vague memory of hearing about before, deluded or not. On checking them out their "Caroline Knows" track, despite being titled like a Beach Boys mash-up does actually sound familiar, whether it's one of those songs, or has been parading the ether for some time only the annals of our minds will ever know. The long(!) and short of it is, it's a great fricking tune, and I can't wait for their album to come out in October, I have a feeling it'll be a cracker...
