HITTING YOU WITH OUR RHYTHM STICK

MOG Newly-Weds

Posted 3 months ago

The good part is, we had a lovely wedding day and honeymoon...the bad part is the ensuing separation...

Robin and I were married in my home town before a small group of family and friends on June 27. Thought you would like the photo of our cake which mystified our guests and everyone who has seen the photo since, except, of course, you Moggers! But as music fans, I am sure your real question is: what songs were played at the wedding? The answer is - for walking down the aisle together: "Your Hand in Mine" by Explosions in the Sky; for the signing of the license, "Oxford Suite" by rock violinist Ed Alleyne-Johnson, and for our exit, "Special" by Mew (the loud detuned intro to the song sounded great on the church PA!)

Robin has applied to immigrate to Canada, a process which could take from 3-8 months. He had to return to the UK to apply from his home country, so he will be continuing to work there (and pack up his belongings) until he gets the go-ahead. Meanwhile we will still be in "I-visit-you, you-visit-me" mode for the next few months. I hope we won't get so accustomed to talking on MSN and Skype that we need headsets to speak with each other in person, LOL!

Still more kudos to MOG for making all this possible.

Congratulations with the lovely wedding day and honeymoon! Good to hear everything was so nice, and that you played Mew.

Hope the immigration process will be as swift as possible and that the skyping and typing will soon be a thing of the past, mostly. :)

Brilliant Cake, you two. I'm sure it was a bit of puzzlement to your guests. Sorry you have to endure months of separation, but it will be extra sweet when you can finally be together. Cheers to you both!

This is so great. What a wonderful cake. As Dale said, a relationship based on meeting through a love of Miyazaki is a grat foundation. Congratulations to you both.

As a MOGger, Miyazaki fan, and hopeless romantic, I'd call this one of the sweetest love stories in ages. You have my best wishes for a long, happy, healthy, music-filled union!

Thanks for all the wonderful comments. And, yes, the cake was very yummy. Hey Darla, is there any left in the fridge? Can you send me a bit with the purple icing.
