WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

New Wave Wednesday - Joe Jackson

Posted over 2 years ago
A nice chunk of New Wave for me was the group of UK artists who evolved out of pub rock, like Graham Parker, Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds. And this bloke, Joe Jackson:Note the clever use of an ergonomic office chair in a live show :)

  3. RobinH says Great period in music. Thanks for the reminder. Now you mention Dave Edmunds, remember this one, from '79, Girls Talk. Added bonus, it's none other than Nick Lowe on Bass.

  4. dermahrk says This looks like it was made recently, as part of the return of the Joe Jackson Band with "Volume 3", I think. And he still exhilaratingly ROCKS! Great stuff, Darmuzz.

  6. darmuzz says I didn't think anyone would comment on this; I am pleasantly surprised by your fine taste, LOL! Actually I was reminded of some of these artists by Mogger waydutch, who has done some posts on Brinsley Schwarz. And yes, this is one of many videos from a recent tour (2000s) - but he sure hasn't changed much!

  7. darmuzz says Robin, yes I do remember "Girl Talk." I don't think I have heard that song since the year it came out. Thanks!

  8. Girlcrawl says Excellent addition; Joe Jackson is still a songwriter/musician that I favour, and completely concur regarding the UK artists you named above as providing 'a nice chunk of New Wave' - indeed!

  9. darmuzz says Girlcrawl, I hope there are more New Wave Wednesdays because there were so many good artists in that “genre,” besides these wonderfully geeky guys.
