WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

sunday underneath the covers.

I need to get in on this hot cover action before Sunday is all but gone.

I recently rewatched Stephen King's The Stand over the last two days. the scene that has always stuck with me the most is in part 2, when Fran (Molly Ringwald) gets out an old record player and plays Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over". over a montage of decaying corpses, the song takes on a whole new meaning.

something tells me that's not what Howie Day was thinking about when he covered it, though.

  2. Dale says The cover's just OK, but that scene from The Stand was devastating. What made it even worse was the scene where Fran had to bury her beloved father in his garden. I may have to dig out the VHS copy I have now.

  4. dangerpilot says I remember very vaguely wating The Stand when it originally aired on television. my mom has been a huge Stephen King fan since I was a baby, so it was a 'must see' in our house. the second time I saw it was in australia, we rented it and watched it in one sitting on a lazy sunday afternoon. the dvds have been out-of-print for about three years now, and are pretty hard to come by. when some came in at work I put my name on it immediately and bought it as soon as I was able. the first half, the first three hours, are my favorite. the second half gets a bit to fantastical and heavy-handed for me, but it's still definitely worth seeing. I agree, Dale, the cover isn't the best. Howie Day isn't the best, in my opinion, but it was the first cover that came to mind tonight.
