MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

(5)

Back on Sept. 12th 2007, Yisrayl Hawkins and 10,000 of his church members believed that the world was going to end by way of nuclear war. By the end of the day when no one had pushed the panic button he said to his followers "Oh, that's right! This must be the day when the nuclear baby was to be conceived. So if we do the math... 9 months from September 12th means that... now lets see... on June 12th (give or take a week to ten days) that nuclear baby will be birthed and all humanity will perish, except for us. So just you hold tight until then." and so they held tight.

This coming Thursday won't just be known around here as "Hip Hop Thursday", according to ol' Yizzy it'll also be "Human Holocaust Thursday".

"Songs to meet your maker by" (?)

What sort of music should we play on the day when the Four Horsemen come to town. What would be suitable for your own private apocalypse. We only have a few days to think about this now so lets get a playlist going.

Oh, and there's also this:

It's depressing that people can actually believe that.

I'm not sure how much time I would have in the event of worldwide destruction, but I would like to have enough time to listen to five songs:

5. My Iron Lung - Radiohead 4. Mistaken For Strangers - The National 3. I Can See For Miles - The Who 2. Tommy Gun - The Clash

and my final moments shall be spend with Jimi Hendrix and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)".

A little more info on our impending doom: not only did Sept 12th of 2006 (the original date with death) pass us by but the birth of the Nuclear Baby passed us by as well, so it seems the confused Mr. Hawkins mistook the holy scriptures and his calculations were off by one year. So in case you didn't follow, don't worry! our trials and tribulations are still forthcoming so hold tight, HHT will be here soon enough!

I don't mean to turn this into a Muse-worshipping post, but they have MANY songs on the subject and with dramatic flare to spare {one of the million reasons you should worship them...oh wait, I said I wouldn't do that at your post! Arg!}.

Muse - Time Is Running Out. Muse - Sing For Absolution. Muse - Space Dementia.

Have to say, any playlist with end of the world songs on it has to be free and clear of Fred Schneider. Sorry!

I'd have to go with REM's "End of the World" off of Document. Yeah, I know that's not the whole real title.

How come the Nuclear Baby looks like Chucky? These are all great ideas, except there is way too much Muse, which rhymes with Mew's, which makes me gag. But on that note, we could all wear pretty scarves, and save ourselves from the Nuclear Baby that way.

I would also nominate "Reverend Jack and His Roamin' Cadillac Church" by Timbuk 3" as the song I'll listen to on my Harley to Hell. Thank you and goodnight.

Hey Anna, Muse worship is fine, it is Your Apocalypse. I wouldn't expect any less from you as the Fire from the sky blows over the bars and hotels on Nikis. I also hope you catch a light for your last cigarette at the same time. ;^)

Groon Campy gay men are the last thing you want to hear on the apocalypse, well then guess what your hell is going to sound like? "I got me a car, It's as big as a whale and it's about to set sale!"

Michelle "Future so bright I've got to wear shades" Timbuk 3? I had no idea they made any other songs. As for your "Harley to Hell" Sweet, ride on Sister, Ride on!

excellent Misstee, Yisrayl Hawkins would like how everything burns up at the end of that video.

Michelle Timbuk 3! Well who knew? With any luck you'll be part of the 2/3rds of Earths population to survive the coming armageddon and thus teach the survivors the songs of the great Timbuk 3. (Thanks for the song, truly!)

The obvious choice? But if it were my own private apocalypse I would have Mogwai blast me a new path to helicon (pt. I)!
