I've been really loving these two bands since I picked up on them a few months ago.
If I were to sit down and iron out my thoughts on the subject, I know the Department Of Eagles "In Ear Park" would be my #1 choice for album of the year. The Acorns "Glory Hope Mountain" may have placed close to the top as well but alas, this album came out at the tail end of '07 and unfortunately had to be omitted on a technicality.
Both of these bands first albums are a bit precocious whereas, these, their second albums are a bit more focused and "grown-up", if you will.

DoE: Very catchy. Sounds like Of Montreal with some Nilsson influence, nice melodies too.

Yes some Of Montreal and a little Beirut. I like the way alot of bands get that hollow metallic ambience to their tracks. Such a great sound.
Hollow metallic ambience - that is good, reminds me a bit of Broadcasts production quality on Haha Sound

late on the uptake, but wanted to share that i too, love this band (and the 2 "bear" bands), and especially this song... great post.
