The Raconteurs - Old Enough

Just when I thought I had things all figured out along comes Jack White and his new best friends with "Consolers of the Lonely". I was a big fan of the White Stripes first two albums but something happened that I had no control over. A loudmouth redhead walked into my bar one sunday afternoon and she just wouldn't ever stop talking, she was from Seattle and she was a big fan of the White Stripes and she just kept yammering on and on and on. She came in every night there after for almost a year and she slowly became friends with a lot of the people I knew. The more she drank the more unstopable her vocal chords got. I didn't know what to do, she was so persistent and loud and her laugh was piercing. Then one night at a friends Halloween party she showed up dressed as a teddy bear and I was there dressed as an Unknown Russian Playwright (hard to explain, See Chekov's "The Seagull"). One thing led to another and we slept together.

The Raconteurs are a great band though, I was a little hesitant to pick up either of their two albums but I broke down and did. Just last week I started listening to this, their new one, "Consolers of the Lonely" and it's definitely stepped into my Top Ten state of affairs for the year 2008. I'll wait a few years before I go back to the later White Stripes stuff, it's better that way.

Looks like Jack's getting his Brokeback Mountain vibe on. I'm like you with the White Stripes - I'll get around to The Raconteurs in a couple of ears. This might change my mind.

Red head huh? Must always be careful with them. Mr. White's Rac project has kinda fallen on deaf ears for me too. I'm sure I will conform soon. Steady as she goes, mainstream off the port bow.

you know, my first draft of this post sounded a lot better, I'm not too happy with the way this turned out. Oh well, it's out there.

And No, the costumes looked better on the floor anyway.

I knew there had to be a kinky ending to your redheaded story.

I've been convinced by The Raconteurs since their first installment.

consolers of the lonely is a very mature rock record and one of my favorites this year

the live show was easily the best rock show i've seen in years, and there have been many

there were cheap trick and queen vibes abounding

a regal rock largesse that was pure classic rock and extremely rare these days for a young band

i am down with this project and have always been down with loud redheads!
