Now We Know! (Sunday Under Covers)

(please read below before pressing the red button)I always wondered why people outside of America would say such bad things about us or would want to do us any harm. At our core we are just good, peace-loving, god-fearing people much like every other society in the world. Then today I found this little bit of information that would change my understanding of things.You see, when people in far off distant lands start chanting "Death to America" the don't really mean America, as in the United States of, what they're actually referring to is the band ...America.(now you can press the red button)You see any band that can lay claim to originally writing and recording such crap as "Muskrat Love" deserves to be hated the world over. Here we thought all this time that the Captain & Tenille were the one's to blame."Death to America (the band)!"

    dachmo says Oh, the Cap'n and his bride were there mixed within the CHEEZE lists with their version of Muskrat Love. The day after Christmas, believe it or not, I saw an interview with the two evildoers at which point they conceded that the song Muskrat Love wasn't there's at all but belonged to "America" the band. I was holding it in until now.

    dachmo says **DH** Nope, America released this song on the world in 1973, Captain & Tenille re-recorded it and made it into their first monster hit in 1975.

    vannatta says According to Wikipedia: "Muskrat Love" is a 1972 song by Willis Alan Ramsey. It originally appeared on his album Willis Alan Ramsey under the title "Muskrat Candlelight." It was covered by the band America in 1973 and then by Captain & Tennille in 1976 where it reached #4 in the charts. The 1976 recording features sound effects created with a synthesizer to evoke the imagined sound of muskrats courting. So... take up your torches, and lets go searching for Sir Ramsey.

    ZenPop says I just want it publicly known that I was on board the "Death to America (the band)" bandwagon long before I heard this monstrosity... Now that I've heard it, I think it should galvanize public opinion to redouble our efforts to squash this vile "music" and its creators... It's almost worse, in some way, that they didn't write the music and CHOSE to cover it. I mean... if you created it, then you have some vested interest in it. What's America's excuse? (or Capt. and Tennille) "Hey! What a great song! Let's cover it!" ...and to sing a song that references muskrat toes? ...Death to the Great Satan, America (the band).

So now I get it: America goes to W.A.R., makes a very bad decision, diverts the blame by making the country and eventually the world think someone else is responsible, preferably a couple of dimwits and in the end all parties involved make a butt-load of money. W.A.R. sucks, death to America (the band)!

    AMERICA HAS BEEN ROCKIN THE PLANET FOR OVER 30 years!!!! How long have you been alive? They have been touring nonstop at least 125 concerts a year internationally!!! America is and has been one of greatest bands in the world and one point even produced by ex Beatles producer Geoge Martin....how many bands can claim that? Karma goes around and around through the sound of alligator lizards in the air,but the humans will show no love.....but in the desert you can remember your name,cause there aint nobody to show you no pain! I LOVE AMERICA THE BAND!!!!  AND SO DOES MOST OF THE PLANET!!!
