Breaking The Silence

Posted about 3 years ago

I've been at such a loss for things to say lately, which is sad because it's kept me from posting.

Thanks to everybody who continues to post regularly. You may not have known it but all you folks, here on these pages, have kept me sane over these past few months. I don't know what it is about you all...

Epic45 will appeal to all of you who like their music Orchestral, Glitchy, Swirly, Dreamy and instrumental (for the most part). I just find it hard to stop listening to. It's long and slow and they occasionally approach a crescendo, normally I wouldn't go for it but it fits my mood perfectly. I keep imagining that this would sound perfect biking along a mountain trail. I am buying a mountain-bike next week, then all I'll need is the mountain..

The members of Epic45 are all school friends. Guitarist/keyboardist Ben Holton, guitarist/bassist Rob Glover, and drummer Mark Oldfield were only 13 years old when they started the band in 1995. Two years later they heard the music of groups like Spiritualized and Mogwai and suddenly started realizing that people could actually make noisy, ten minute long instrumental music and get it released. - Allmusic

I think you'll have to save a little longer for that one :-)

Nice sound - has it's time and place, as you inferred, but a worthy addition to any collection

I dont know if I like the music more, or the video for Summers First Breath. That brought me back to being a kid, and the enjoyment of when the weather finally got warmer and you could go outside and play once again. Remember the first time you snuck out a pack of matches, and lit every one just to see it burn. God I loved watching that!

Yeah, this is good stuff.  Reminds me a lot of Lanterna, who I posted about a while ago.  And you know me . . . epic-sounding instrumentals are my thing as of late.

Glad to know you're still here, dach.

    Hey, Dachmo!

These are both beautiful.  I had never heard of Epic45.  Thanks so much for sharing these gems---as others have said, I must check out more!  Wow, they started at 13, you just know they have a really special bond.

I also feel that there is something about certain people who post regularly on here that just.....well, I really enjoy, and that certainly includes you!  I am not a big poster, but I really cherish and look forward to hearing/learning about the music in the posts, and often the common experiences of humanity that we all feel.  It helps me feel connected, I guess

I should know better than to turn off my notifications.

Nice find, D. This would definitely go well on a stretch of beautiful single-track ... there's loads of it here you should try sometime.
