WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Tried but True.

I don't have a lot of funk in my files but I recently got some, however well worn it may be it's still good.

  2. dachmo says Life without tv...can't imagine it. I usually just have it on but muted only thing I like to watch is the Daily Show and Colbert, but since the strike I can't even do that. I've often thought I would be OK to have a tv hooked up to my dvd player only and things would be just fine, have you ever thought of doing that?

  3. Dzendvokh says I watch plenty of movies, I got one of those 24" iMacs, big enough for me. Believe me my netflicks cue is quite long. Since I never had cable I never saw those shows anyway (and I'm certain I would have watched em), I just got tired of all the crappy shows sucking me in, plus my daughter got old enough to be influenced so we just decided to toss it. I spend more time on the computer now, not sure if that is any better. I just heard someone strapped a bomb to themselves and is holding Hillary Clinton's campaign office hostage...... she really pisses people of huh?

  6. brendanhalpin says Such a great song. Obviously Michael's voice was better before he wrecked his nose (I took voice lessons for a while and learned how much of singing takes place in the nose), but what strikes me about these old songs is that not only was his voice better, but he was a better singer--making better choices about his phrasing and stuff like that. I don't have the vocabulary to talk about this right, so I guess I should just say he once was great, now he sucks, the end.

  7. dachmo says You know, I was also able to get my hands on both "Off the Wall" and "Thriller" and I've got to say "Of the Wall" (which came before "Thriller") was a much better album. It's like the moment he went super-nova his musicality started to suffer. Now he's just a dead star.

  10. dachmo says I think it's because the people today really remember them as The Jackson 5, mostly. Supposedly Michael's coming along too! from what I've heard.

  11. ZenPop says I must admit I've never been a Michael Jackson fan... but I'm completely on board with the Jackson Five... They've got whatever "it" is... This song is a double shot of RedBull without the crappy aftertaste... Cheers!

  13. Jonh Ingham says I heard the J5 on the car radio yesterday; one of those solo moments so you can turn the volume waaay up. And what struck me is how ridiculously good Michael sounded. This confirms it. And a dvd player hooked to a TV sounds perfect -- with a laptop to the side to download Heroes, Dr. Who, Dexter, Entourage and Californication.

  14. dachmo says I'm a big fan of this seasons Dexter, I think you folks over yonder are still watching the first season of Heroes which was great! this season not so much. Those are really the only 2 programs I watch along with the Daily Show w/Jon Stewart (does that air in Britain?). Like I was saying to Brendan, somewhere after "Off the Wall" he lost something, he must've had a break-down that coincided with his plastic surgery bouts because even though Thriller was such an enormous album for him, his music and voice tended to sound best right up through "Off the Wall". You can hear both the old Michael and the Thriller version of Michael emerging on this one.

  15. bloodtea says those were the days babe... got a J5 LP and when things need to get a bit funky (and when i'm sick & tired of all my cd's) i'm spinning that.
