My opinion but Mass Romantic is The New Pornographers best album and this is my favourite song from that album.

    dermahrk says I am very surprised that I like this. Why? Because I bought a New Pornographers CD, unheard, "Electric Version" because I read raves about their powerpop. Didn't care for it, and ended up donating it to our local library. I see from allmusic.com that this is from their first album. Is it that different, or am a becoming schizo?

    asrati says Do you care for Imperial Teen? I bought CDs by both the Teens and the Porns at the same time years ago, and felt they were like peas in a pod. God knows why, apart from the Pop Rock connection.

    1234chainsaw says This is almost uncanny, David. I've long thought the same two things: the debut is the best NP album and "Letter" is the best song on it. Each successive NP album has been an increasingly greater disappointment (apart from the Dan Bejar penned tunes, maybe).

    dachmo says Hello All, I listened to this album quite a bit when it first came out and think each song to be really good. I was very disappointed with their second album, Twin Cinema saw things get better but I'm still partial to this album. That Imperial Teen sounded good too, I'll give it a shot. Dermahrk try this, this is just the first song on the album which is usually a pretty good indicator of what the rest is going to sound like.

    Lizziegreeneyes says I need to pick this up... I have TC & Challengers... I know they're getting a lot of flack 'bout Challengers being a dissappointment... guess that's the bonus of coming to the NP bandwagon fashionably late... I dig both the albums I have & just ADORE the title track on Challengers... one of my favorite songs of this year... This is one fantabulous track though *d* !!!

    poebegone says YES !!! in my opinion Mass Romantic is the best Pornographers album, and Letter from an Occupant is the best song in it, although tied with Mass Romantic, the song, for me. i am giddy with giddiness that you cool folk share this opinion. :D
