Blondie:

  1. bloodtea says Guess Blondie came first as a band, but _Hanging on the telephone_ belongs to TN - Blondie covered it 2 years later of its release, on _Parallel Lines_ in 1978.

  4. dachmo says Well done! I didn't realize I tricked out the question I was only really interested in the song but as usual you went above and beyond. Wasn't really too hard if you just looked at the fashion styles from the record covers.

  5. dachmo says Tell your local bartender your next drink is on me, they'll know what to do!

  8. dermahrk says I knew from a recent article that Blondie was not the originator of that song, which piqued my curiousity to hear the original. Mission accomplished! Thank you, DM (hey I'm DM, so is Deadman - should we form a band?)

  9. brendanhalpin says Wow--I never even knew this was a cover. Gotta say I prefer Debbie Harry's vocal.

  10. goodmusiconly says I like 'em both, slightly different flavours. Classic album cover - I used it as part of an invitation design last year for a new wave costume party ... the gal who threw the bender is a platinum blonde, and I photoshopped her head in place of Debbie Harry's, then put her husband's face on one of the guys. He also got his own cover as a member of Flock of Seagulls. Funny stuff...

  11. deadmandeadman says bloodtea, dachmo isn't kiddin' you know. Walk into any bar in the country and they know his name. (They'll probably try to get you to pay up his tab, too.) Good post. Needless to say I prefer The Nerves.

  12. dachmo says That Replacements song Here Comes A Regular is known to spontaneously come on the jukebox in most bars as I walk in. The Nerves, in case your wondering, split into two bands not long after this single: 1) The Plimsouls 2) The Beat or Paul Collins' Beat If we formed a band called The D.M.'s as soon as we did a clunker of a set people would start calling us The B.M.'s. I'd rather use another moniker.

  17. deadmandeadman says Oh yeah, THAT'S a whole lot better. How 'bout "The Beatless"?

  18. walkingthecow says I am loving The Nerves!

  19. waydutch says the Beat Less, clever, and you could do nothing but Beatles covers, except without any drums or percussion - OK, sure sounds like a sure winner

  20. deadmandeadman says Sounds like we have our Brian Epstein!
    Permalink posted 11/04/2007
  21. dermahrk says Yeah, and then when our set was bad we would become the "Beatoff Less".

  22. Lady Miss Ian says Ok, we'll be waiting for a post from the "DM Experience" sometime soon, m'k? Berry cool, Dachmo. I'd never heard of the Nerves, but deff know the Plimsouls. Blondie is, for sure, much smoother, but TN has a nice garage-rock feel to it.

  23. dachmo says Wow, the time change must've screwed up MOG because I haven't received any of these comments. **Sunscream** What's so funny? Do we amuse you? ;-)
