My Old Bartender

Posted over 4 years ago
Back in '97, when I was working the night shift, I used to frequent a bar down the block from me in Park Slope Brooklyn called O'Connors. At the time, you could walk in there on a Friday or Saturday night and get a seat at the bar. There was always a rotating group of guys in there sitting around talking shop over a couple of beers, carpentry was the hot topic. The bartender back then was a great guy named "Anders Parker":http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:axfpxqejldhe

  3. ivylander says Surprised to hear his voice after seeing his picture - the sound is much more delicate than I would have anticipated. Nice one. Thanks. (And also thanks for the "give him a shot" - yuk yuk....)

  4. Dzendvokh says Naw, don't know the slope well, I had good friends who used to live there, and I visited them, I guess I am just commenting in general on what's gone on in parts of Brooklyn in the last ten years. Maybe that ain't so much the case in Park Slope.

  5. dachmo says Oh no, My little area of Park Slope used to be very quiet, then around the time I moved into Manhattan (2003) all sorts of coffee shops and restaurants and boutique clothing stores started to take over. **ivy** You like how I tied that one together...I stay awake at nights thinking this stuff up. ~efYESVjvuaM.mp3~

  10. 1234chainsaw says Varnaline were great. Haven't heard his solo records, though. Guess I've gotta check them out.

  11. dachmo says He's definitely polished his sound up a bit with the solo stuff, if you liked Varnaline then you should like his two recent releases. I've yet to hear the album he did with Jay Farrar so I can't vouch for that.
