Sleep Late...

I was just going through some tunes I want to put on M, which I should have up by late afternoon today (Friday). Harry Nilsson blows me away, his music is all over the board. I'm going to crap out and not do him any justice here. In case you don't know his name he was very popular during the '60s and '70s and this is just a breezy little song from what some consider to be the first remixed album "Aerial Pandemonium Ballet".If I've managed to intrigue you in any way, check him out on Wiki: "Harry Nilsson":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_NilssonThere's more mp3 posts within the comments>

    Augusts1 says Great songwriter & artist. I think I have his "Nilsson Schmilson" album on vinyl somewhere. Maybe not. I know I heard that album & liked it. Shit, now I'm gonna have to look through my lps! Damn you Dach(shaking fist in air)!

    All these examples go to show you what I mean about how all over the board this guy was. The fact that he would never stick to a distinct style was actually his downfall with the public. Every album he did was very different from the previous. He unfortunately died almost penniless after a finacial advisor he trusted stole every cent he had. In 1994 at the age of 54 he had to convince the record companies to allow him to do a "best of" album to help him pay for some medical bills that were piling up. The night it was completed he died of a heart attack.

    scotfree says You know Dach, those last two are very nostalgic for me. They were big radio hits the summer I was 17. We were working the local tobacco fields sweatin' and chopin' and lathin' and waitin' for Harry on the radio all day long in the hot sun. SMACK! If you weren't lookin', you'd get nailed in the side of the head with a big fat juicy tobacco worm! The evenings were for stockin' up the car with a case of little kings and other, more electric tunes. But Harry was the day's delight and remains, for me, an icon of that age. Thanks Harry!! No retrospective on this guy would be complete without this emotional holiday classic (seriously, this time)
