looking for a song by the Comsat Angels was essentially how I came upon MOG, just a short 3.5 months ago. I've been trying to build the most comprehensive playlist of my time in the New Wave heyday. The heavy hitters were no problem to track down but what I was looking for were the more obscure tracks I remember hearing. The Comsats sound was originally rooted in the late '70s early '80s post punk scene (Sheffield, England to be exact) but by their third and fourth albums they had incorporated a more synth pop sound. They eventually would go back to their post punk leanings but unfortunately most of their original fans had moved on. Their earlier records have gone on to cult status and have thus brought a renewed interest in the band. The song that I had been looking for is from their fourth studio album, _Land_. Both synthy and poppy but not post punky.

Liking that song, pretty synth groovy. Hard to believe you've only been here 3.5 months, it seems like a much longer time in a good way. You've quickly become a mog regular & I've certainly enjoyed your contributions as well as your friendship. And damn you, you got featured in the mog gazette & get a Mog t-shirt before I do, lol!!!!(I've been here 10 months & still no Mog shirt!)

I was afraid something sinister was going to happen like in the movie "The Island" (Ewen & Scarlett not the one with Michael Caine). Only I'd be taken away by the MOGlins and be implanted with a chip that only allows me to post on inane music news topics. Uuughh, scary!

I'm all loaded up and ready to go! New Wave Wednesdays sounds perfect, I like your word associations, you should do something with that. Or, maybe you are?!
I'll put together a post later tonight and see if the idea floats.

I've said it before, I'm just as big a film geek as I am a music freak and sometimes these things just come out as if I expect people to understand what I'm saying.

Tomorrow (today really!) I'm just going to post New Wave music all day and I'll try to talk folks into keeping that thread going every wednesday, will you join in?
