"One more can’t hurt." The productivity level at my work just dropped 100% as I stopped to listen. That's productivity I just can't get back. Ouch. But totally worth it. Great choice.

Suave. Let me tell you about suave. When Roxy played ATL a couple of years ago, they were like 2 hours late for the concert - why? you may ask, because Bryan Ferry wanted to ??Fly?? to new York to do some shopping (probably a 2 hour flight)! I guess he'll always be a slave to fashion, huh? That's so Rock n' roll.

Didn't he almost die on a commercial flight in Europe somewhere. I think I remember his plane hit some empty air and just plummeted thousands of feet until they were able to pull out and land at the nearest airport so that everyone could change their underware. Probably not his suavest moment.

Re suave and fashion-victim of Mr Ferry, those of you who went to an Marks & Spencer store may have come across this picture:

Back in my journo days, Mr. Ferry was simultaneously one of my least and most favourite interviews. Least because he never actually said anything (although it was always a good fight) and best because he lived in great flats and houses. The true test of his suave came when I went around to his new house in Notting HIll (and it was amazing) for an early morning interview. We're sitting in a white living room with white carpet, he in a sumptuous leather chair and me across the room on the sofa. In walks a statuesque beauty queen with a cup of tea and I am introduced to the new girlfriend, Jerry Hall. She gives it to him, kisses his cheek, turns around to me and in an incredible Texas drawl says, 'Would you like some breakfast? Can I get you some porridge?' In the corner, Bryan is cringing, sinking into his chair with a look of absolute horror. It was just the best moment and while I was really tempted, I resisted the offer.
My photographer friend Kate Simon tells of going over there in the summer, to find Bryan on his knees in the garden planting geraniums. The cameras were immediately banned to the house.

There's always a time when you just have to roll up your tuxedo shirtsleeves and dive head first into the garden. I'm sure there was some sexy old horticulturist lady he was trying to impress watching him from near by.
