WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

Souled American

Posted about 1 year ago
Back in '95 a guy that I worked with told me about a great band that he and his brother were into. The band was **Souled American**, from the Chicago area. As it turns out, back in '88 they pretty much started this whole Alt Country thing. I ended up picking out this, their third album from 1990, called _**Around the Horn**_ and it is fantastic. If your a fan of Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt & Wilco then you need to know these guys as well.(I put another song into the comments section, if you liked this one.)

  2. dermahrk says The vocalist on "Around The Horn" sounds a lot like Neil Young in the early days. Love the accordion.

I hope you've found and read the fine article on Souled Americans in The Believer (July/August 2008, pp. 36-42) written by Theodore McDermott. Here's a link.
