for any D-E-V-O fans out there, "Weird America has a video interview with Mark Mothersbaugh":http://www.weirdamerica.com/2006/11/15/weird-america-with-mark-mothersbaugh/ where he talks about the connection of the origin of Devo with the Kent State shootings as well as other things. These guys were one of the most subversive bands ever, and Mothersbaugh has continued to do interesting things since Devo stopped doing very much.

Lowdown says Supposedly Brian Eno was financially responsible for getting Devo going, which makes perfect sense really. Mothersbaugh is responsible for some of my favorite movie's soundtracks.........

d0gstar says Eno produced the first album (the best one), but I don't know about any financial help he may have given them. There's some good material about Devo's early days, as well as the Akron/Cleveland scene, in Simon Reynolds essential book "Rip It Up and Start Again":http://www.powells.com/biblio/2-0143036726-1 (link goes to Powell's website - please support your local independent bookstore!)

thill says Devo: Live in the Land of the Rising Sun: Japan 2003 interlaces concert footage and interviews. The interviews are worthwhile but the performance can be missed. Do you need to see 50 year old guys in their yellow jumpsuits? no! Rip it Up and Start Again is a great book!
