Lyrical Gems
Well, I’m back (Yay me!). Anyway …
“… be strong in your will / and trade all your scars for love.â€
I don’t know how many times I’ve listened to the song Lullaby by Martyrs and Poets (the song from which the above lyric comes), but for some reason today was the first time that this lyric really jumped out at me. Maybe it’s because all of the others times I’ve listened to the song I’ve been focused on the opening of the song and the lyric “I would wrap you in angels / just to keep you safe.†Who knows, but it’s definitely nice to discover something new in a song I’ve listened to a hundred times before.
The album “Whatever Happened To Main Street,†is full of lyrical gems like those … I love it when you can hear a song for the millionth time and still find something new in it. Just like a classic book or a painting, I think that’s the mark of a great song.
