Chris Cagle, perhaps an unlikely person to cover "Wanted Dead and Alive" and yet, somehow, it really works.
I wasn't sure that I'd like this particular cover. I love the song, but didn't know if it would/could fit with a country arrangement. Well, luckily I can admit when I'm wrong (most of the time, anyway)! Cagle's voice works well with the song, and I think the arrangement is very well done.

This song, in it's original incarnation, is one of my guilty pleasures. In this form, not so much.

Definitely understandable. I think it's the guitar that won me over with it though. Mind you, yeah, the original is still a lot better.

Artist: Album: Whatever Happened to Main Street Track: Lullaby

Well, I’m back (Yay me!). Anyway …
“… be strong in your will / and trade all your scars for love.”
I don’t know how many times I’ve listened to the song Lullaby by Martyrs and Poets (the song from which the above lyric comes), but for some reason today was the first time that this lyric really jumped out at me. Maybe it’s because all of the others times I’ve listened to the song I’ve been focused on the opening of the song and the lyric “I would wrap you in angels / just to keep you safe.” Who knows, but it’s definitely nice to discover something new in a song I’ve listened to a hundred times before.
The album “Whatever Happened To Main Street,” is full of lyrical gems like those … I love it when you can hear a song for the millionth time and still find something new in it. Just like a classic book or a painting, I think that’s the mark of a great song.

"...then she opened up a book of poems and handed it to me written by an italian poet in the 13th century And every one of those words rang true and glowed like burning coals Pouring off of every page like it was written in my soul from me to you Tangled Up In Blue" >dylan

Artist: Album: Undeneath, The Walk

So, I thought I should try out this posting thing. We'll see if I keep this up (especially given that I have other blogs in a bunch of other places). We'll see how things work out. shrugs
Anyway, back on the subject of music, I've recently been getting back into a lot of music/artists that I used to love and had let go of in favour of other music. Hanson, though, seems to be the biggest surprise to me. I was a huge, huge Hanson fan when the first came out and then I kind of just stopped listening to them.
I started listening to them more and recently bought their album "Underneath." Pretty good album, not an all time favourite but good none-the-less. Definitely worth listening to at least a few times. It's pretty much what I would expect from a Hanson trying to grow up and figure out exactly where they want to fit musically.
"The Walk," though (their new album) is great! I've been really getting into it. Lyrics from the album keep running through my head and I can't seem to get them out. Especially songs like Georgia and Great Divide. Though, I also enjoy Running Man and Go.
It's really great to see these guys still going strong and doing their thing 10 years after mmmBop. It's also awesome to see them out their doing it on their own!

"Underneath" was the first Hanson CD I bought, and "The Walk" has gotten stellar reviews, so now I have to consider that as well.
