Flying Lotus

I haven't had a chance to really relate to much music lately, or maybe think about what really sounds good to me. We are bombarded with so much music and media lately, it gets hard to sort it all out. Do you find that too? Or do you just listen to a few tunes everyday? I listen to KCRW alot. I really like the shows New Ground, Metropolis and of course Morning Becomes Eclectic. I've heard this tune by Flying Lotus a few times and finally found it online. I found it at Crackers United:http://crackersunited.com/blog/index.php/2007/08/29/flying-lotus-preps-reset-ep/He reviews some music I'm interested, similar tastes etc. He's got a review there which I'll post here:I briefly mentioned Flying Lotus (aka Steven Ellison) on here before. Regular viewers of Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim may already be familiar with Ellison, he makes the segue music in between programs on the channel. I was turned onto the California producer earlier this summer and I checked out his excellent experimental electro hip-hop record, 1983 (Plug Research), released last October.A year later and Ellison has signed to Warp Records and is prepping the release of his new EP, Reset, which drops on October 2nd. Check out the soulful trip-hop track “Tea Leaf Dancers,” which leads off the six song EP.Pre-order Reset at the Warpmart (vinyl or CD format) and buy 1983 on Amazon. More tracks over on his Myspace page, including a slowed-down remix of Mr. Oizo’s “Stunt“.Anyhow, I liked this song and decided to post it. It's laid back, short but I think sweet.

  1. brittanybf says Ah, no wonder I got a late-night feel with this song. I always like those little tunes, but have never given much thought to whether the person actually made full records. This is a nice surprise to find out he does. Thanks, I feel much more enlightened. Now I can't wait to watch Adult Swim and have a better listen! And yes, I do find that keeping up with music can be an overwhelming task. Usually it takes me a while to catch up with new stuff. I tend to listen to what I want to hear, based on personal preference, on a daily basis, rather than get new songs by every artist under the sun! That would take quite a lot out of me. Cheers, thanks for this post.

  2. crthead says Agreed Brittany, it does take alot to always hear new artists all the time. I love discovering new sounds though, and this site is really good at exposing us to alot of good music we might not have heard ever. Thanks for the feedback! Mike

  3. Oatmeal says Right on. I liked 1983, but this sounds a little sexier. I like it.
