I saw Mono yesterday (Sunday). It was the second time I saw them. They were fantastic. They manage this weird amalgamation of energetic rock and ambient soundscape. I am a huge fan, and have been since I picked up "Under The Pipal Tree." I still think of it as their best album.

I saw "Envy" on friday night, with several opening acts. Most of the opening acts were ok, but not great. One act that stands out as typical was "Sleeping People" who struck me as competent, but boring. Technically, they were good musicians, but their songs were dull and uninteresting. Not bad, just boring. Envy was totally fantastic. I have never seen them before, but I would go see them again in

Saturday I went to see "Explosions in the Sky." Lots of opening acts, but I showed up late (mostly to avoid them). I did get to see a part of Eluvium's set. Which was good- if I had seen the whole thing, I probably would have been bored out of my mind. I like them on album, but it would be impossible to watch an entire live set. However, I found it fascinating. The idea of noise as music, and the idea of

Last night went to see "Blood on the Wall" [http://www.myspace.com/bloodonthewall] at Third Ward over in the Bushwick-y area of Brooklyn. I've heard good things about them- they are supposed to be a really fun live act, with a party-ish atmosphere. The opening acts were "The Double" [http://www.thedoublethedouble.com/] and some band called "Demon McMahon".Demon McMahon - Completely generic rock n

So, this album [Body Of Song] has some elements of electronica in the vocals and maybe a bit in the drum tracks (which sound almost synthetic). The effects are occasionally revelatory, and sometimes distracting. Overall though, I think that the album is really good. The song writing is consistent with what you expect from Mould. The special edition comes with a bonus CD that has extras, remixes an
