WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Listening to, enjoying Bob Mould

So, this album [Body Of Song] has some elements of electronica in the vocals and maybe a bit in the drum tracks (which sound almost synthetic). The effects are occasionally revelatory, and sometimes distracting. Overall though, I think that the album is really good. The song writing is consistent with what you expect from Mould. The special edition comes with a bonus CD that has extras, remixes and the like. That is fun, but its not what you might expect. It is a really dancy, disco-y sorta thing. Not bad necessarily, because its fun, but its not what you might expect.

  1. max says i might have to take a listen to this, i was about to catch the guy live, but decided that i really hadn't heard any of his stuff and didn't want to risk another night of seeing music i had never heard before (the night before was saves the day....i didn't know, i didn't know) But now, close to two years later i have finaly heard some of this stuff, now i think i'll go take a listen to this album (it's the new one, right?)

  2. critical says You may enjoy it. I certainly did. However, I think that his other work is slightly better for an introduction. Have you listened to Husker Du or Sugar - his bands before his solo career? I would actually recommend checking out those bands or his "Black Sheets Of Rain" album. Husker Du is pretty much punk rock, and Sugar is a little more rock sans punk. Live, he is fantastic. Lots of energy.
