Live Music

Posted over 5 years ago
Last night went to see "Blood on the Wall" [http://www.myspace.com/bloodonthewall] at Third Ward over in the Bushwick-y area of Brooklyn. I've heard good things about them- they are supposed to be a really fun live act, with a party-ish atmosphere. The opening acts were "The Double" [http://www.thedoublethedouble.com/] and some band called "Demon McMahon".Demon McMahon - Completely generic rock n roll. Their music receded into the background for me. The Double - Despite their awful website, these guys were a lot of fun. Their music was really great. I'd go see them again. They did some interesting things.Blood On The Wall - Eh. They were fun, and peppy, but I thought that their songs were not all that impressive. Would I see them again? maybe. But I don't think I would buy an album.

  1. fairportfan says back when there were clubs that presented decent music for a reasonable price here in Atlanta (there may still be, but all of the ones i ever went to - except Blind Willy's, which is good for blues - have Gone Away when i wasn't looking) it wasn't unusual to go to 688 of the Cotton Club (especially the Cotton Club, where i knew the doorguy and got in free) for sme act i hadn't heard that sounded like it ought to be good, or did good studio stuff, or someone told me would be great or i was just bored that night, it wasn't all that unusual to discover that you liked one of the opening acts as well as or better than the headliners. i discovered Tiny Lights and Butch Hancock that way.
