I have been watching the first season of Doctor Who and started looking at the music and found that Delia Delbyshire and others at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop came up with the music for the theme. A lot more information about her can be found here:

I was more interested in an old series that I remember seeing on Nicoloedan in the early days of cable.I loved this series and have been watching some more of them on you tube. This clip kind of explains the series and features some of the music

Delia is a real unsung electronic music hero. I remember finding a great compilation of hers and BBC Workshop stuff on the Boomkat site. Of course I didn't order it, so now I can't find again. Dang!
Sci-Fi Puberty, awesome!
thanks Lady Miss and JA. I don't profess to know a lot about the history of electronic music but there is some I find very interesting from an artistic kind of view of form and composition.
I am a BIG electronic music fan.
My personal entry point was all the works of Brian Eno. You couldn't go wrong getting familiar with all of that.
Oh, yeah - and I've also enjoyed many a good Dr. Who episode as well.
;-)
Sort of a combination of "Electrowoman and DynaGirl," The Power Rangers, and "The Brady Kids" (when they tried singing). Never heard of it before, but I'm sure there is a devoted cadre of fans, as such series' tend to get quite a following.
yes, there is kind of the same group that watches Dr Who's first couple seasons and other late 60-early 70's shows like supercar, thunderbirds, stingray.
Hmm, I recall those Super Marionation shows back then, including "Fireball XL5." That was then, this is now, though "Flashforward," "Fringe," and "Dollhouse" don't hold a candle to "Firefly." As for electronic music, "Forbidden Planet" has been the benchmark for out of this world themes.
Ah, Alea48! I remember Fireball XL5 very fondly! The adventures of Steve Saturn and Company were heady stuff for a young boy. I had an XL5 lunchbox and a toy Fireball XL5 rocket (with the figures, of course). It was only later I learned of Supercar and the Thunderbirds.
Yeah, I miss Firefly, and will miss Dollhouse, though of course Angel was my favorite. He was so dark.
The nice thing about the old shows is my 11 year old can enjoy them as well as I do. There is no way I will let him watch the new shows.
I was only trying to bring some awareness about Delia the BBC lab,and her work in electronic music which does come after Forbidden Planet but seems connected to the team that created the soundtrack. Someone should really do a history of electronic music, it not being my forte or my passion will pass it on someone who can.
