According to Rolling Stone Magazine The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is the greatest album of all-time. Not many people would disagree that this album is up there as one of the greatest. Well, if you had to pick the most epic song from that album (perhaps the most epic in the Beatles catalogue) it would without a doubt have to be the album's final track, number 13, Lennon/McCartney's "A Day In the Life."
The lyrics are so simple and they are presented with great honesty. Its almost as if you are reading the newspaper along with John, or getting up to go to work with Paul. I especially love the album's final set of lyrics. For those of you who know me you will know that: 1.) I love music B.) I love the Beatles and 3.) My favorite parts of songs are usually really small almost unnoticeable changes in inflection or slight variances in instrumentation, especially during vocal sections and in the lyrics of songs. John seems to be more upbeat in this last lyric and I absolutely love it. 4000 holes in Blackburn, Lancashire indeed.
It wouldn't be right if I started off this blog with something other than a Beatles post. And for those of you out there (I'm sure there is still a few) that have yet to experience the magic of the Beatles, I highly suggest you head out to your local record store and check out this album. Its definitely one to own not only for the music itself (which of course is awesome) but also because of the history that comes along with it. This album changed the face of music.
Stay tuned. More to come soon.
Peace and Love,
CP

sgt. pepper is one of my favorite beatles albums, but i've always leaned more towards "Revolver" as my favorite. i like your style, starting it off with the beatles.
That is funny you mention that about Revolver because that actually is my favorite album as well!!! I don't even know why there is just something about that album as a whole that is really cool. But I figured if I was gonna start off with an individual Beatles song, I might as well go all out epic with "A Day in the Life." Ha ha but you definitely gotta start with the Beatles.
oh for sure, great song to start with in introducing your blog to us moggers! haha. my brother has a tattoo around his forearm that says "All the lonely people, where do they all come from?" heh.
