votd: pj harvey, "down by the water"

i think i was all of 18 when this video came out. it made a big impression on me for better or worse. i think most of you would agree it's a classic. i don't have all their albums but i think out of all the ones i do have this is my favorite. thoughts?

    freeamanda says Ooooh- good song to bring up! I have to agree that "Down By the Water" haunted most of us into a slight obsession. The video is so crazy too- the way she uses her hands and body as the water, combined with her huge features and red lips and nails, is a lot to process. And the SONG- what does it MEAN? It's so dark and delicious whatever it is. I love PJ Harvey. I have many memories of listening to "Rid of Me" with my friends in various situations, and freaking out while singing/screaming the chorus full voice, jumping off chairs, etc. It's amazing when she's wailing. This live version gives a glimpse, but whatever I saw in my head while I was wailing it out is better:
