I have this strange problem of confusing bands that have similar words in their names when I read about them in print. A great example is that I was listening to LastFM and Deerhoof came on, and while they sound nothing like Deerhunter (that I remember - I only saw them live in their early days), I still constantly come across reviews and write ups about one or the other, so they inexplicably become one and the same in my mind. I had this problem in the mid 90's with the like 3 Super____ bands that were out (Super Deluxe, Super Suckers, and I know there were a couple others but you get my point). I'm wondering if this is a common affliction or if others experience this problem.

not confusion, but I do call bands different names if they sound similar to something. The deer hunter example is perfect, pearl jam has always been toe jam for me as well.

Well, the name Pearl Jam is as good as Toe Jam as far as band names go.

For some reason i sometimes confuse Dead Milkmen with the Dead Kennedys. Which is really weird...except for the name association.

I understand. I also used to confuse all those dooky bands like Papa Roach and Hoobastank. All kind of sounds the same to me.

i do confuse Panda Bear and Minus the Bear sometimes, although they far from sound the same.
this reminds me:
"Sebadoh and Sentridoh and Superchunk and I don't know, Doug and Lou and Calvin too and Kim and Kim and Kim and Kim."
