Here's a great reworking of Slick Rick's "Children's Story" as only Black Star could do. Talib Kweli and Mos Def are dynamic together, yet I've not found either one of them as good individually as they are together. With a lot of Hip hop groups there are always the one or two stand outs, I find myself wishing Blackstar would cut another album together rather than their solo projects.

My Trusted MOGs
Damn, I remember this song - well, I remember the original. Haha, memories.

Great song both original and cover

Great album, but I think Reflection Eternal and Black On Both Sides are of the highest quality, solo albums that I could listen to from start to finish with just a little annoyance here and there. Let's face it even Adventures Of Slick Rick had it's down moments.

Bold statement Oatmeal, that one is a classic in some books.

Have not heard Reflection Eternal, but Black on Both Sides is good (but I don't feel it's as good as "Black Star"). The Black Jack Johnson album was a disappointment. No balls to it's "rock." I think it's a case where the sum is not equal to it's parts. Kinda like "A Tribe Called Quest" -those guys have never matched what they did together, in their solo efforts.

@ Contra: I loved Black On Both Sides, but I definitely think Mos fell flat on the subsequent efforts. Although I have not listened to the most recent one. As for Reflection, I Mogged that one here. The production on Eternal is exclusively done by DJ Hi Tek, who did roughly half the Black Star album along with a few others, notably Shawn J. Period.
@ Rawk: I was just saying that the only reason we listen to Let's Get Crazy is because it is on the same album as Mona Lisa, Children's Story, and Hey Young World. BTW that was the last CD I ever bought at a mall - Super Saver Bin $3.99 - now that is some disrespect, but a boon for me.
